<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a knitted fabric for hook-and-loop fastener on the female member side which is extremely thin and light-weight, of which the engaging force with the male member side of a hook-and-loop fastener is high, and of which the cost is low as well. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An intermediate section M is constituted of a chain knitting yarn 24 for which open stitches and closed stitches of the warp knitting are repeated. On the rear side, a rear surface section B with a weft inserting yarn 22 which reciprocates by skipping a plurality of knitting needles is provided on both sides in the knitting fabric surface direction with the chain knitting yarn 24 as the center. A front knitting yarn 26 which is engaged with the chain knitting yarn 24, and at the same time, is kept knitted by skipping the plurality of knitting needles is provided on both sides of the knitted fabric surface direction with the chain knitting yarn 24 as the center. The front knitting yarn 26 is kept knitted by skipping the plurality of knitting needles from the open stitch 26a which is engaged with the closed stitch 24b of the chain knitting yarn 24 of the intermediate section M, and is kept knitted in the same manner in the reverse direction by forming a free loop 26b by the closed stitch. In addition, the front knitting yarn 26 is kept knitted as well in the reverse direction in such a manner that the open stitch 26a is engaged with the closed stitch 24b of the chain knitting yarn 24 of the intermediate section M; the front knitting yarn is kept knitted further by skipping the plurality of knitting needles from the open stitch 26a, and the free loop 26b by the closed stitch is formed.
