<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably preserving an aqueous solution of tungstic acid or peroxotungstic acid over a prolonged period of time, and to provide a method for producing a thin film of a tungsten compound obtained by drying the aqueous solution. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the method for preserving an aqueous solution containing tungstic acid and/or peroxotungstic acid, a ≤3C alcohol is added to the aqueous solution and the aqueous solution is preserved while shutting out the light.
