<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nanoparticle dispersion solution of barium titanate with which a dense barium titanate thin film almost free of defects and having a film thickness of ≤1 μm can be formed without using a binder, and which has high dispersion stability and needs no dispersing agent, and to provide a method for producing the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the nanoparticle dispersion solution of barium titanate, nanoparticles of barium titanate synthesized by a sol-gel method are dispersed in a dispersion medium. The nanoparticle dispersion solution of barium titanate satisfies such conditions that (1) the zeta potential is ≥40 mV, (2) the water content is ≤3%, (3) the electrical conductivity is ≤30 μS×cm<SP>-1</SP>, (4) the absolute value of the difference of the solubility parameters of solvent adsorbed on the surface of the nanoparticle and the dispersion medium is 0-2 (cal×cm<SP>-3</SP>)<SP>1/2</SP>, and (5)the concentration of the nanoparticles is ≥1 wt.%.
