In the invented method for laser fusion cutting of a workpiece (1) without cutting gas, a kerf (3) is molten in the workpiece (1) by means of a laser beam (2) and thereby the laser beam diameter (D) is selected at the working point such that the molten material (4) is driven from the kerf (3) without cutting gas.
