COMPOSITION AND METHOD

A method of removing hair from the skin, the method comprising the steps of: a)contacting the skin with a composition comprising a compound of formula (Ia) or (R-SO2-OO)nMn+ (Ia) (R-CY-OO.)nMn+ (Ib); and b)removing said composition from the skin along with entrained hair; wherein X may be O, S or NR1, n is 1, 2 or 3, M may be hydrogen, an alkali metal, a divalent metal, N(R2)4, an optionally substituted alkyl or aryl group or a group of formula RC=X; each of R1 and R2 is selected from hydrogen and an optionally substituted alkyl group; wherein each R is independently selected from a group of formula R3 NH, an optionally substituted alkyl, aryl, heteroaryl, cycloalkyl or non-aromatic heterocyclic group, hydroxide, a hydrogen atom, or a group having the formula (II): wherein each R4 independently represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group; p is from 0 to 30 and each R3 is independently selected from an optionally substituted alkyl, aryl, heteroalkyl, cycloalkyl or non-aromatic heterocyclic group, hydroxide, a hydrogen atom or a group of formula (II).
