The method involves detecting a momentary vehicle position. A lying ahead driving route (F) is temporally, spatially simulated. The simulated driving route is displayed as an animated route preview. A display parameter e.g. height of a virtual focal point, of the animated route preview is automatically, variably adjusted or provided depending on a route specific parameter e.g. vehicle position (POS), of the animated route preview. A traffic signal design is displayed in the animated route preview by a place name or a point of interest (POI) on the driving route.
