An elongate region (16) extends between the supporting regions. The elongate region is tapered in an extending direction. The supporting regions of respective lower edge and/or upper edge have different heights. The element has a dual-T-shaped cross section. The element is formed by an extruding press profile. Deformed foldings are provided in the extending direction. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an energy absorption element for a motor vehicle i.e. car.
