MAGNESIUM ALLOY AND METHOD FOR MAKING SAME

Provided are a magnesium alloy excellent in mechanical characteristics and a method for making same without using a special manufacturing facility or a special process.  An Mg alloy having an alloy structure consisting of an Mg-Zn-RE alloy which contains, as essential components, Zn and at least one RE element selected from among Gd, Tb and Tm with the balance consisting of Mg and unavoidable impurities, said alloy structure being configured to contain either ß' phase and/or ß1 phase and a kinked long-period stacking order structure.
