PHOTOCHROMIC COMPOUND AND WRITE-ONCE TYPE OPTICAL RECORDING MOLECULE MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photochromic compound useful as a write-once type optical recording molecular material excellent in record holdability and durability, and to provide a write-once type optical recording molecular material using the same.

SOLUTION: There is provided the photochromic compound which includes a ring-opened compound (A) or its ring-closed product (A'), and is irreversibly changed into a compound (A") displacing the absorption spectrum by an elimination reaction induced by a photoreaction. The compound (A") emits fluorescence with exciting light having a wavelength of 405 nm.
