<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain sufficient developing density and to suppress scattering of toner inside and outside the apparatus, fog on a base, etc., in a non-contact development system image forming apparatus and an image forming method, in which a latent image carrier and a toner bearing roller are opposed to each other with a gap between them. <P>SOLUTION: After a photoreceptor 2 is charged to the same polarity (negative polarity) as the charging polarity of toner by a first charger 3, which is a brush roller, sticking matter remaining on the photoreceptor 2 is charged to its reverse polarity by a second charger 5, which is a scorotron charger. The sticking matter having the reverse polarity traps low charged toner in a developing position DP, thereby suppressing scattering of toner from the developing position DP. Further, discharge is caused between an intermediate transfer belt 8a and the non-exposure part of the photoreceptor 2. The low charged toner sticking to the non-image part is charged to its reverse polarity before the transfer position TP, and the transferring to the intermediate transfer belt 8a is prevented. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
