PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect electric signals transmitted by a signal cable from noise without influencing the dimension of the external diameter of an insertion section. SOLUTION: A signal cable 32 for transmitting image pickup signals, a forceps channel 35 where an electrocautery 36 is inserted, and a plurality of optical fibers 65 constituting a light guide 34 are aligned side by side in the insertion section 13 of this electronic endoscope 10. The periphery of the signal cable 32 is surrounded with the optical fibers 65. The surfaces of the respective optical fibers 65 are formed with conductive films 66.
