<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve gear which can suppress a very small opening of an intake valve in a case where other cylinders are closed due to deflective deformation of a drive shaft when the intake valve is opened, and which can prevent destabilization of engine operation and deterioration of fuel consumption. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the valve gear, rotation of a drive cam 5a disposed on a drive shaft 5 swings a swing cam 7 via a link arm 16, a rocker arm 15, and a link rod 17, which opens or closes each of intake valves 3, 3 via a swing arm 6 against a spring force of a valve spring 12. A hydraulic lash adjuster 10 coming into contact with other end portion 6b of the swing arm includes a disk spring 34 elastically disposed between a body 24 and a retention hole 1a. In the hydraulic lash adjuster, compressive deformation of the disk spring absorbs a very small downward movement of each swing arm one end portion 6a of other cylinders due to deflective deformation generated at the drive shaft when the intake valve is opened, to thereby maintain a valve-closed state.
