PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus for performing focused photographing in a short time lag. SOLUTION: A system control section detects a focusing state of an image while moving a focus lens in the optical axis direction. The system control section detects a state of a photographing scene when an image is acquired. The system control section moves the focus lens to a movement starting position when variation of the photographing scene is detected, or detects the focusing state while moving the focus lens when determination of the photographing scene is detected.
