<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat treatment system capable of highly efficiently treating asbestos-containing waste with heat. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The heat treatment system includes: a heating container 10 that has an entrance nozzle 13, an exit nozzle 14, and a steam receiving nozzle for receiving superheated steam; a belt conveyor 11 that loads outside the heating container 10 a block comprising a plurality of stacked asbestos-containing wastes, that brings it in the heating container 10 through the entrance nozzle 13, and that has a mesh-like belt 19 for carrying it out through the exit nozzle 14; and a heating device 12 that is installed vertically across the mesh-like belt 19 in the heating container 10. Using the belt conveyor 11, the plurality of blocks are continuously brought in the heating container 10 and heated while being conveyed in the atmosphere of superheated steam by the heating device 12.
