<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultraviolet ray irradiation device capable of expanding an irradiation area in which ultraviolet light can be irradiated with a homogeneous illuminance without bringing about enlargement of a linear light source. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Inner wall surfaces 16 of a substantially square-cylindrical chamber 15 are constituted with reflective surfaces, the inner wall surface 16a located in the longitudinal direction of mercury lamps 12 stored in a light source unit 10 among the inner wall surfaces 16 is inclined in the direction of being expanded toward the top edge side from the base part side and, at the same time, a reflective member 22 for reflecting a part of light radiated from the mercury lamps 12 to the direction of the inner wall surface 16a which is expanded and inclined is extended in the array direction of the mercury lamps 12. Thereby, a sufficient light quantity of ultraviolet rays can be irradiated even for an area on an irradiation surface 101a enlarged more than an effective length l of the mercury lamp 12.
