<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk device in which data can be recorded on a high-coercivity magnetic recording layer by using a small recording magnetic field without heating the magnetic recording layer. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The magnetic disk includes: a magnetic recording layer 24 exhibiting Ising ferromagnetism; a recording magnetic pole 2 that includes a pair of tip magnetic poles 5-1, 5-3 that apply a recording magnetic field 10 to an area of the magnetic recording layer 24; and an auxiliary magnetic pole 3 that includes a pair of tip magnetic poles 5-2, 5-4 that apply an auxiliary magnetic field 11 that intersects with the recording magnetic field 10 to the area of the magnetic recording layer 24 where the recording magnetic field 10 is applied. The application of the auxiliary magnetic field 11 decreases the Curie temperature of the magnetic recording layer 24 to magnetically record data. Ž<P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT Ž
