The device (16) has a lifting device (18) for raising or lowering a spare wheel (26), and a spare wheel support (28) for supporting the spare wheel at a loading bridge i.e. tilting bridge (12). The wheel support and the lifting device are fastened at a front wall (10) of the bridge. The lifting device is attached at the front wall of the loading bridge by a carrier unit (30). The lifting device is linearly movable relative to the carrier unit between a retracted position and an extended position. The spare wheel is fixed at the support or is removed from the support in the retracted position.
