PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for requesting bandwidth in a multi hop relay network are provided to request uplink bandwidths according to each group, thereby reducing overhead and delay. CONSTITUTION: A group generator(220A) groups uplink bandwidth requests to generate groups. The uplink bandwidth requests include at least one connection ID generated from at least one terminal. A group bandwidth request message generator(220B) generates bandwidth request messages according to each group according to whether uplink packets exist about each group.
