<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to be appropriately informed when the user fails to remove an external memory medium. <P>SOLUTION: A data processing apparatus has a detection processor 10c to detect whether or not a USB (universal series bus) memory U is being connected upon a user logout process, a process controller 10e to set a predetermined process in an unapplicable locked state when it is determined that the USB memory U is still connected by the detection processor 10c, and an information processor 10d to send the user a request mail for removing the USB memory U and to receive a response mail to the request.
