PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scrap shearing machine suitable for shearing a discarded vehicle of a railroad vehicle including a freight car or a passenger vehicle, a land vehicle including a bus or a heavy-duty truck, or the like into a plurality of short scrap pieces. SOLUTION: The scrap shearing machine includes: a straight blade shearing machine 20; a wide width open type supply channel; lateral hydraulic rams for compressing a metal scrap from the side in the supply channel 30; and a feeder 40 for feeding the compressed metal scrap to the shearing machine. Only a limited length part shorter than the entire length in the longitudinal direction of the supply channel of the long robust metal scrap is compressed in a width direction by a pair of the lateral hydraulic rams, and the limited length part of the metal scrap is compressed downward by a downward hydraulic ram before the operation of the lateral hydraulic rams. Respective driving systems of the straight blade shearing machine, the feeder, the lateral hydraulic rams and the downward hydraulic ram are associated with a consolidated controller which operates and controls these in a preliminarily determined operation order.
