PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for cooling a gas turbine. SOLUTION: A cooling system for a turbine (2) comprises a blower (12) for producing cooling gas flows (22, 24) running in a rotor cavity of the turbine (2), piping (14, 18) for feeding the cooling gas flows (22, 24) to the turbine (2), one or more valves (15, 17, 21, 19) for controlling the cooling gas flows (22, 24). The piping (14, 18) is operably connected with rotors (34, 36, 38) of the turbine (2). The method for cooling the turbine (2) comprises a step of producing cooling gas flows (22, 24) running in a rotor cavity of the turbine (2) using the blower (12), and a step of feeding the cooling gas flows (22, 24) to the turbine (2).
