<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mounting structure for a document feeder that reliably secures its upright position, and to provide an image forming apparatus incorporating this. <P>SOLUTION: A mounting structure for the document feeder (20) that is attached to an image reading section (7) of the image forming apparatus so as to be freely opened or closed includes: the document feeder that can open/close the image reading section; a hinge unit (48) that supports the document feeder at one end of the body (2) of the image forming apparatus so that it is freely rotated; and a hinge fixing member (70) that fixes the hinge unit to the body of the image forming apparatus. The hinge fixing member has a member body (71) fixed to the upper surface of the body of the image forming apparatus.
