APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CHARGING

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance charging efficiency through a simple circuit when multiple storage batteries are charged. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A charging apparatus 1 for charging multiple storage batteries 11a to 11d includes a solar battery 100 that outputs current. The charging apparatus 1 further includes combinations of the following members as units 10a to 10d with respect to each storage battery: a storage battery 11; a voltage measuring instrument 12 for measuring the voltage of the storage battery 11; and a switch 13 for switching between an electric circuit through which current outputted by the solar battery 100 is charged into the storage battery 11 and an electric circuit bypassing the storage battery 11. In the charging apparatus 1, a storage battery identification unit 21 identifies a low-voltage storage battery among the multiple storage batteries 11a to 11d using the voltages measured by the voltage measuring instruments 12a to 12d; and a switch control unit 22 controls the switches 13a to 13d so that the identified storage battery is charged with current outputted by the solar battery 100.
