PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately select a main subject when measuring multi-point distance even in a photographic mode in which a photographer gripping a camera photographs the photographer himself/herself as a subject. SOLUTION: The camera includes a multi-point distance measuring section and a switch for setting a mode (a photographer photographing mode) for photographing a photographer gripping the camera, wherein a main subject selection reference in a plurality of distance measurement values obtained by the multi-point distance measuring section is switched according to whether there is or not the photographer photographing mode, thereby the appropriate distance of the appropriate main subject is selected.
