<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for inspecting abnormalities of sealing in a package capable of performing inspection of sealing abnormalities with high accuracy with a region to be inspected set to a proper region. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method for inspecting abnormalities of a sealing section in a package wherein an object to be packaged is stored by sealing an edge section includes imaging the sealing section, detecting an outer rim of the sealing section from the obtained image, deforming and setting an inner rim with an amount of deformation different from that of the outer rim, setting a region between the outer rim and the inner rim as a region to be inspected, and inspecting existence and non-existence of sealing abnormalities of the object to be inspected by using the image data within the region to be inspected.
