PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rapidly execute assignment of an identifier to an individual tire pressure monitoring device to the position of a wheel after starting travel. SOLUTION: Data telegrams are transmitted at first time intervals, and when a pressure signal is reduced at a rate exceeding a threshold, the data telegrams are transmitted at second time intervals, which are shorter than the first time internals, and a travel staring mode is set by activation of a rotary sensor 1b. After the changeover into the travel starting mode, the process of transmitting a data packet is started, a check is conducted after transmitting the first part of the data packet to determine whether the rotary sensor 1b continues detecting a turning of the wheel, and if not, the process of transmission of the data packet is interrupted. The process of transmission of the data packet is resumed if the rotary sensor 1b is re-activated within a preset time span, the process of transmission of the data packet is started all over again if the rotary sensor 1b is re-activated after the lapse of the preset time span, and there is a changeover to a normal mode of operation after the complete transmission of the data packet.
