<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell capable of stabilizing output and making a long lifetime possible. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell is provided with a membrane electrode assembly 2 having an anode 13, a cathode 16, and an electrolyte membrane 17 interposed between the anode and the cathode and a fuel supply mechanism 3 which supplies a fuel to the anode of the membrane electrode assembly. The membrane electrode assembly has a degassing hole 40 which penetrates between the anode side and the cathode side, and furthermore has a gas liquid separation body 50 which is arranged so as to cover the degassing hole on the cathode side, and does not permit the liquid permeation, and permits the gas permeation.
