<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic probe stabilized in the direction of a visual field and capable of obtaining an ultrasonic image with less distortion. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The ultrasonic probe is equipped with: an ultrasonic probe member 7 arranged at the leading end of a probe 1a, having an ultrasonic probe unit 6 which is configured to radiate an ultrasonic wave in a definite direction and receive the ultrasonic wave from the outside, and supported so as to be oscillatable and rotatable around an oscillating rotary shaft 9a; a sheath 8 arranged to cover the ultrasonic probe member 7; an acoustic medium 10a filled in the gap between the ultrasonic probe member 7 and the sheath 8; an oscillating mechanism 11 (19 and 20) for oscillating the ultrasonic probe member 7; and a position detecting part 12 (21 and 22) for detecting the position where the ultrasonic probe member 7 is oscillated and rotated by the oscillating mechanism 11.
