<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device executing high-security communication with a counter part without exchanging identification information therewith; a communication system; a communication method; a program; and a recording medium. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A transmission-side communication device 1 includes: a feature information storage part 14 for storing feature information representing the feature of its own device and a classification name of the classification of the feature information by relating them to each other; a feature information reply request part 10 requesting feature information related to a predetermined classification name to be replied; a communication part 22 receiving the feature information from a response-side communication device 2; a display part 30 presenting the feature information of the response-side communication device 2 to a user; an operation input part 32 acquiring feature information selected by the user; a communication part 22 requesting the start of data communication to the selected response-side communication device 2; and a communication part 22 transmitting the feature information when the feature information replied from the response-side communication device 2 for the request by the communication part 22 coincides with the feature information stored in the feature information storage part 14, and starting the data communication with the response-side communication device 2.
