PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a strict comparison of a normal image with a specific image, for being used for a diagnosis. SOLUTION: A motion detecting circuit 45 analyzes image data from a DSP 40, and detects the amount of relative motion of an observation site. A CPU 41 compares the dimension between the detection result of the motion detection circuit 45 and a threshold. When the detection result of the motion detecting circuit 45 is the threshold or less, a normal illumination light source 50 and a specific illumination light source 51 of a light source device 12 are alternately turned on and off at intervals of charge accumulation time of a solid-state image pick-up device 23. Meanwhile, when the detection result of the motion detecting circuit 45 exceeds the threshold, the updating of the specific light moving image is stopped, with the respective light sources 50 and 51 actuated as they are. A display control circuit 46 displays a normal light moving image, displays a special light still image or simultaneously displays the normal light moving image and the specific light still image.
