A defective pixel determining method, which is used in a radiological image detector (1) having a plurality of radiation detecting elements (x, y) that are two-dimensionally arranged, compares a dark read value (dm (x, y)), which is obtained by a plurality of dark readings performed during a calibration and/or by one or more dark readings performed during a radiation image pickup and which is output from a single radiation detecting element (x, y), with a predetermined threshold value (dmth), and, if at least one dark read value (dm (x, y)) output from the radiation detecting element (x, y) is greater than the threshold value (dmth), determines that the radiation detecting element (x, y) is a defective pixel.</p>
