摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a large-sized graphite electrode for steel manufacture is prone to suffer from a crack during its manufacture and use, and in particular, that falling off (spalling) resulting from a crack occurred during its use has a great negative effect on the cost of steel manufacture. <P>SOLUTION: By forming the graphite electrode in a hollow shape, it is possible to allow the gas inside pores of the graphite, which may cause cracks, to be discharged to the outside.
