<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting fixture equipped with a ballast-built-in high-pressure discharge lamp with cracks prevented from generating in a bulb due to droplets. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The lighting fixture 1 includes a high-pressure discharge lamp 2 equipped with a ballast filament 8 arranged at an outer periphery of an arc tube 7, a lamp fitting 3 equipped with a lamp socket 17 and attaching the high-pressure discharge lamp 2 in exposure in an outside space, and a resin-made protective cover 4 with one end side 4a in close contact with an outer face 5d of the bulb all over a periphery of the bulb of the high-pressure discharge lamp 2, and with the other end 4b mounted in close contact with an outer face of the lamp fitting 3 all over a periphery of the lamp fitting 3, so as to surround the ballast filament 8 of the high-pressure discharge lamp 2.
