PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous substrate for use in a wide range of utility, such as wet capacitors. SOLUTION: The substrate is formed by applying a voltage upon a metallic substrate, while being submerged in a solution, in order to start forming an anode on an oxide film. Different from the conventional oxidation process of an anode, a newly produced oxide is rapidly decomposed to expose the surface of the metal in an electrolytic solution once again. This can be attained by various kinds of typical procedures, by raising the voltage level of the solution higher than a well-known critical level as a "decomposition voltage", by means of a corrosive acid in the solution capable of decomposing the oxide and the like. Irrespective of the mechanisms used, an approximately synchronous process of growth/decomposition of an oxide yields a structure in which holes are arranged at a substantially regular interval. The structure which is attained is highly porous, and can indicate superior adhesiveness to an electrochemically active material and stability in wet electrolyte. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
