PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, license management method, program, and license management system in which license management with respect to a program can be appropriately achieved. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a license data management means for managing license data of a program and a history of invalidated license data by associating them with the program; a determination means for determining whether or not activation of a program to be activated is permitted on the basis of the license data managed by the license data management means; an activation means for activating the program in a case where the activation is permitted by the determination means; and a license invalidating means for, in response to the input of a request to invalidate the license data, including the license data in the history.
