PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detector capable of quickly and highly accurately detecting the position of a bright spot defect. SOLUTION: The detector is a detector for detecting the bright spot defect generated on a display panel 1 which incorporates a light transmission control part 30 capable of controlling light transmission and includes a first surface 20 and a second surface 10 facing each other, and is provided with a positive type resist layer 40 formed on the first surface 20 of the display panel 1. The resist layer 40 is provided with a vacancy 42 self-exposed and developed by light from the bright spot defect, which is the vacancy formed at a position corresponding to the position of the bright spot defect.
