LUBRICANT APPLICATOR AND IMAGE FORMING DEVICE

A lubricant applicator (12) comprises a brush roller (23) which is rotated while coming into contact with an image carrier (8) and a solid lubricant (24) and which scrapes off the solid lubricant (24) and applies the solid lubricant to the image carrier (8) and a flicker (26) which is brought into contact with the brush roller (23) and which brushes off the developer adhering to the brush roller (23) when the brush roller (23) is rotated.  The brush roller (23) comprises a loop hair implanted in an endless loop.  The flicker (26) comprises a contact surface (29) forming a sharp angle, desirably, an angle ? of 5° to 70° to the tangential direction to the brush roller (23) on the upstream side in the rotating direction.  The loop hair has an inclination of 30° to 60° to the rotating axis direction of the brush roller (23).
