<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device that accurately controls an amount of a toner supplied to a developing device, and to provide an image forming apparatus using the developing device and a method for controlling toner supply. <P>SOLUTION: The developing device 2 includes: a first conveying path (developer conveyance path) P along which a developer D containing the toner and a magnetic carrier is conveyed; a first conveying member (developer conveying member) 112a disposed in the first conveyance path P and used to convey the developer D in a predetermined direction while stirring the developer D; and a toner supply pipe 116 for introducing the supply toner to the first conveyance path. In the developing device, an electromagnet 118 for generating a magnetic field in the toner supply pipe 116 is provided along the periphery of the toner supply pipe 116.
