<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retainer for a ball bearing and the ball bearing which is excellent in high speed rotation performance, inhibits deformation due to centrifugal force, reduces grease leak, and has increased grease enclosed capacity due to increased space volume in the bearing, and whose life can be extended. <P>SOLUTION: In an inner diameter side section 46Ai of the retainer 45, a hollow part 50 extending to a retainer outer diameter side from an opening edge at a retainer inner diameter side is provided, and a sliding member composed of composition is formed at least on a surface section forming a guide surface of balls in pockets 46.
