A method for prognostication of radiation-induced effects of the immune system at irradiation in professional limits comprises the immunological and genetic analysis of cells of peripheral blood. A relative telomere length is determined using fluorescent hybridization and flowing cytometry and at decrease of an index below 15 conventional units the development of radiation-induced effects in the immune system is prognosticated at irradiation dozes below 20 mV.
