The exhaust turbocharger has a rotor having a compressor wheel, a turbine and a shaft body between compressor wheel and turbine. The rotor rotates with the operation of the supercharger with numbers of revolutions within a given work area up to the firmness border of the rotor. A rotor geometry, with which the work area lies within a sub-critical range of the numbers of revolutions or critical numbers of revolutions, lies above and outside of the work area.
