<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable continuous processing at different pitches with one wire and simplify the winding of the wire around a plurality of main rollers and the configuration of the wire driving system in a wire saw. <P>SOLUTION: The wire saw 1 carries out machining of a workpiece 7 by allowing the one wire 6 for machining to be spirally multiply wound around the plurality of the main rollers 2, 3, 4 and 5 and making the wire 6 travel while pressing it to the workpiece 7 to be cut. The first pitch P1 of the wire 6 at the main rollers 4, 5 to be one pair and the second pitch P2 of the wire 6 at the main rollers 2, 3 to be the other pair of the plurality of the main rollers 2, 3, 4, and 5 are made different.
