<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problems: a skating apparatus as short distance moving means by a man power includes a bicycle type or a tricycle type, however, a usual skating apparatus has a disadvantage in its stability during a running, and a skating apparatus excellent in its portability is not put to practical use which can be used during a commutation and can directly use commutating shoes and can be taken into a train. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The skating apparatus includes a deck for holding a front wheel and a rear wheel holding frame connected to the deck through a pivot to hold one rear wheel or two rear wheels. A user wears ordinarily used shoes on both feet respectively, fixes the foot on the deck, directs one foot in a direction where the user desires to move and kicks the other foot obliquely rearward. The rear wheel holding frame is bent within an allowable range relative to the deck so that a kicking direction is obliquely rearward from a direction at right angles to the other foot.
