<p>A study is made on a compound having a selective inhibitory activity on 17βHSD type-5, and it is confirmed that a [1-[(indol-2-yl)carbonyl]piperidyl]alkanol derivative has a potent selective inhibitory activity on 17βHSD type-5. The compound can be used as a therapeutic and/or prophylactic agent for a disease associated with 17βHSD type-5 (e.g., benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostate cancer), and has no adverse side effect caused by the decrease in testosterone level.</p> |
