<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pacemaker with position sensing capability. <P>SOLUTION: The pacemaker with the position sensing capability permits built-in monitoring of hemodynamic changes. A miniature position sensor such as a magnetic coil is fixed to each implanted pacing lead. A pacemaker housing includes a generator unit including a magnetic field transmitter. The magnetic field transmitted by the generator unit generates a position signal in the position sensor, and the position signal, passing through the pacing lead, is returned to a control device of the pacemaker. The control device senses the relative position of the position sensor, and therefore, senses the motion of the lead in the heart based on the signal.
