PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a back plate for a chair which has various flexibility characteristics without changing a material while changing the apparent impression of the back plate in the view from the user surface of the chair and the back plate in the view from the opposite surface, and is both strong and flexible. SOLUTION: The back plate 61 made of a synthetic resin to be used for the chair 100 includes a peripheral edge frame portion 61a1 without a hole 61d and an intermediate surface portion 61a2 surrounded by the peripheral edge frame portion 61a1. The intermediate surface portion 61a2 includes a resin mesh area M provided with a plurality of holes 61d and a resin shell area S without the hole 61d, and the resin mesh area M and the resin shell area S are alternately disposed.
