<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small and user-friendly scanner. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A small stamp type canner includes: a housing having an opening at the bottom; a light source and an image pickup device to be stored in the housing; a detection member which detects a depression operation when the housing is depressed to an original at a state that the bottom comes into contact with the original; and a control part which controls the light source and the image pickup device to pick up an image of the original via the opening when the depression operation is detected.
