<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: in communication device having a data error detection function, a correction function and an interleave function, transmission delay between host devices is large. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The communication device performs communication by an encoding function part 72 and a decoding function part 89 without using an interleave function part 74 and a deinterleave function part 84 in an environment where burst errors seldom occur, and performs communication by the interleave function part 74, the deinterleave function part 84, the encoding function part 72 and the decoding function part 89 in an environment where the burst error occurs.
