<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of performing energy saving operation without making a user feel discomfort by surely grasping the position of a person in an air-conditioned room and a heat transmission coefficient of the air-conditioned room, and carrying out the energy saving operation on the basis of its result. <P>SOLUTION: The position of the person is grasped by a human body detection sensor provided in an indoor unit of an air conditioner, and when the air-conditioned room becomes a stable state, the heat transmission coefficient of the air-conditioned room is determined, and the energy saving operation is carried out in response to the position of the person and the heat transmission coefficient.
