PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time required until a user acquires a print result. SOLUTION: The image formation device includes a medium container (paper cassette 10) for storing a medium 11, an attachment and detachment detector (paper cassette sensor 13) for detecting the attachment and detachment of the medium container, a medium detector (paper sheet sensor 12) for detecting the presence or absence of the medium stored in the medium container, and a control part 50 for controlling the shift from a printable state to a power saving state or from the power saving state to the printable state while detecting the presence or absence of the printing data received from external equipment (PC 60). When it is detected by the detector that the medium has not been stored in the medium container, the control part performs the control for making the shift from the printable state to the power saving state. When it is detected by the attachment and detachment detector that the medium container has been removed from a body of device and the printing data received from the external equipment exists, the control for making the returning from the power saving state to the printable state is performed.
